Hello again,
This weeks update, Leigh-upon-Mendip, is the home village of Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud.
Last weekend I took the opportunity of the wonderful weather we had in Somerset to visit Alford & Lovington to add to the 3d stock. The villages are on the road between Castle Cary and Lydford-on-the-Fosse.
At Alford I had a good chat with Commander Thring, who proudly discussed with me his family history as shown in the village church. His father was Rear Admiral George Thring, who died in 2001.
