Thursday 29th November 2007

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Thursday.

This weeks Somerset3d update is
Blackford and, as stated on the site, I couldn't really find much about the place. This is the Blackford near Wedmore and if you know of something interesting about the place then please click on the comments link at the bottom of this article and type away.

Last weekend I visited Axbridge, Cross, Compton Bishop, Bleadon, Loxton and Uphill to add some more 3d stock. All will be featured in the non too distant future.

That's it for now, I look forward to speaking to you all again soon.

Have a good weekend.

Thursday 22nd November 2007

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, depending on where you are in the world.

Another Thursday, another update.

This weeks update is Cothelstone and it's one of those places that you just find rather than go to. When I took the pictures I'd just finished a set at Spaxton and was on my way to Bishops Lydeard when, out of nowhere, Cothelston Manor appeared. I stopped at the Gate House (Shown in the first two pictures) where the gent who lived there explained what he knew of the history of the house. He explained that the three arched entrance to the drive used to be set across the main highway and was moved to protect it from modern traffic. He also said that 3 rebels were hung from the archway on the orders of Judge Jeffreys after the Battle of Sedgemoor but I can find no contemporary evidence of this, so did not include it on the web site notes.

It just goes to show what can be found once you make an effort to explore the countryside around you.

More next week. Have a good weekend.

Thursday 15th November 2007

Hello again,

This weeks update, Leigh-upon-Mendip, is the home village of
Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud.

Last weekend I took the opportunity of the wonderful weather we had in Somerset to visit Alford & Lovington to add to the 3d stock. The villages are on the road between
Castle Cary and Lydford-on-the-Fosse.

At Alford I had a good chat with Commander Thring, who proudly discussed with me his family history as shown in the village church. His father was
Rear Admiral George Thring, who died in 2001.

More to come soon. Have a good weekend.

Thursday 8th November 2007

Hello,

Welcome to the first entry in the Alan Woollard Photography Blog.

Here I will bring you news on the latest updates on my Somerset 3D website and news on my progress as I attempt to become a freelance photographer.

The posts will be as and when there is something to say and initially will be weekly to shadow the weekly updates of the aforementioned 3d website.

I am in the proccess of creating another photography website featuring non 3d pictures from my collection. I'm hoping to get this finished and online in the next three months but I'm not making any promises at this stage. Life has become really busy of late.

This weeks update on the 3d site is of Hawkridge, and the sixth page of the Monaco special is available for viewing. Click here for more.

I look forward to your comments.
